A costume worn by a HYDRA Guard in the Marvel action adventure Captain America: The First Avenger. Scrawny Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is rejected for military service as the United States marches to war against Japan and Germany. Helped by Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), Rogers enlists as part of a “super soldier” experiment, becoming the famous Captain America and taking the war to the nefarious Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
This costume was worn by one of the Red Skull’s loyal HYDRA soldiers as they developed their master plan for taking over the world. The costume is composed of a bespoke tunic and trousers constructed of coarse green and black material with synthetic leather patches on the neck, shoulders, sleeves and legs, as well as a pair of black leather gloves, a pair of leather gaiters and a pair of black leather ankle boots.

Red piping, buttons, a plastic zipper and a distinctive red HYDRA patch on the left arm complete the jacket, with similar piping on the trousers. The trousers have also been fitted with a pair of old British army braces. The leather gaiters strap beneath the sole of the boots and strap up above the calf, ensuring a tight, firm fit for the wearer.

An instantly recognisable piece, one of the rivets has come away on the boots, but the costume remains in an overall very good condition. The jacket is unmarked while the trousers are marked as a “36R”, the gaiters are marked as an “L Reg” and the boots are marked as a size 13.
