”Hail Hydra!”
A pair of prototype Hydra emblems from Joe Johnston’s 2011 superhero action film Captain America: The First Avenger.

Weak but plucky Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) enlists in the army during World War II and is chosen to take the experimental ‘Super Soldier serum’. It imbues him with superhuman strength, transforming him into Captain America, and puts him on the front line in the war against the leader of Hydra, the mysterious Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

Although not obviously seen on screen in the final cut of the film, these emblems and others like them were made for the production. The emblem on the block looks like an early version of Red Skull’s belt buckle. The circular emblem is made of resin and the buckle is made of biscuit foam with a resin shell. Both are painted grey on the front and are unpainted on the reverse.

The pieces have some wear from production use, including scuffing and scratches, and the back of the buckle is exposed, revealing the biscuit foam beneath. Overall the pieces remain in a good condition.
