A copy of Captain America #1 used in the production of the Marvel action-adventure film Captain America: The First Avenger. Scrawny Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is rejected for military service as the United States marches to war against Japan and Germany. Helped by Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), Rogers enlists as part of a “super soldier” experiment, becoming the famous Captain America and taking the war to the nefarious Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).
This comic and others like it can be seen in the film as the legend of Captain America becomes widespread, with Rogers becoming the ultimate propaganda tool for the US war machine. Comics fly off of newsstands the second they are released and copies even making it to Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and Rogers’ friends on the front line in Italy.

Printed on heavyweight gloss paper, the book features a range of comic strips, all vintage 1940s, and is intended to replicate the original Captain America #1 comic, with the only significant differences being some additional pages, the removal of Bucky from the cover, and the replication of the contents page at the front and back.

In a very good production-used condition, the comic comes displayed in a stunning bespoke framed display featuring a laser-cut mount board, stills from the film and the film’s logo. The front panel also opens to allow direct access to the piece. The display measures 52cm x 53cm x 6.5cm.
