A collection of photographs and ephemera for Earth - the original name of rock band Black Sabbath. Earth was a blues-based rock band formed in 1968 consisting of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. In 1969, the band's musical style changed, and their name became Black Sabbath.

The set includes three photographs of the band, an additional printed card image of the band; a small yellow "Earth from Birmingham" banner; a printed write-up on the band; and a Black Sabbath flyer for a Berlin concert which took place on 26 June 1970. "D.Tangye" is written on a piece of tape adhered to the back of the banner. Dimensions (flyer): 21 cm x 15 cm (8 1/4" x 6")

Additional Provenance:

This lot comes from the personal collection of David Tangye. He worked closely with Black Sabbath and went on to be Ozzy Osbournes personal assistant. He co-authored How Black Was Our Sabbath: An Unauthorised View From The Crew with fellow crew member Graham Wright.
