A model miniature taxi cab from Christopher Nolan’s 2005 superhero adventure, Batman Begins.

After losing his parents in a tragic armed robbery, young billionaire Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) turns to a life of vigilantism and becomes the saviour of Gotham City, Batman.

This miniature and others like it were made for use in the climax of the film when Batman tries to stop Ducard/Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) from using Gotham’s monorail system to spread a drug that makes people hysterical and delusional. Detective James Gordon (Gary Oldman) is on the streets below, using Batman’s Tumbler to demolish sections of the tracks. The shots of Gordon blowing up the struts and the train subsequently crashing through a car park were achieved using miniatures.

This cab has been made to look like it has been damaged, with a smashed back window and damage to the paintwork. The miniature has some electronics inside which were used to light the front and rear lights. There are no longer any bulbs in the front and the rear lights remain untested. The taxi has small details, such as the taxi cab number on the side and roof, and the prices for a ride stuck to the side.

The chassis is made of plastic and is over a frame made of plastic and wood. The wheels are plastic and attached to a metal axle. The pieces shows some wear from production use and storage, but remains in an otherwise excellent condition.
