A suit with shirt and tie worn in the hit time-travelling cop drama Ashes To Ashes. Shot in the present day, DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes) inexplicably wakes up in 1981, joining the unit of DCI Gene Hunt (Phil Glenister), which has relocated to London’s Metropolitan Police. Struggling to understand the world she’s in and how she got there, she goes in search of the truth and a way home, solving crimes along the way.
This suit, shirt and tie were worn by Gene Hunt at various points throughout the series as he worked cases across crime-ridden 80s London. The costume is comprised of a black pinstripe single-breasted suit jacket and trousers made by Chris Kerr tailors, a striped black Eton shirt and a red, white, grey and blue. Costume pieces were often interchanged between episodes, with shirts and ties regularly swapped out from other suits throughout the show’s run.
In a very good production-used condition, the shirt is marked as a size 41” chest with a 16” neck with no other sizes marked.
