An asteroid surface reference model from Michael Bay's 1998 action sci-fi adventure, Armageddon. Soon after learning that an asteroid the size of Texas is going to impact the Earth in less than a month, N.A.S.A. is forced to recruit a rag-tag band of deep core drillers to save the planet.
This test piece was made by Dream Quest Images as a three-dimension representation of the hazardous landscape, and given to director Michael Bay for his approval. Featuring the mountains, plains, and a crater on the surface of the asteroid, this piece has been carved from dense biscuit foam. The piece appears to be hand painted in various reds, greens, browns, and white. The sides of the biscuit foam have been painted black. On the back of the foam, a piece of wood has been attached where "Armageddon Surface Test #4" has been written.
This item features some signs of wear from production use and age, including small amounts of paint chipped off the corners, and a small chip on a peak of one of the "mountains," but remains in overall very good condition.
