Sergeant Apone's (Al Matthews) screen-matched USCM armour costume from James Cameron's sci-fi sequel Aliens. Apone and his fellow U.S. Colonial Marines helped Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) investigate the battle-ravaged moon LV-426.
Designed by Emma Porteous and constructed by master armourer Terry English, this set consists of a mixture of screen-matched body armour, additional original components from different characters in the film, and replica components added to complete the costume.
Assembled and hand-formed in aluminium, the camouflage-patterned, foam-padded chest, back, and shoulder plate armour specifically match to shots of the marines preparing to load into the A.P.C. vehicle. "APONE" is stencilled on the upper chest and the interior is marked "APONE No1."
Also included are an abdominal guard composed of original aluminium plates with a replica soft vinyl pad patterned from an original; a pair of aluminium shin guards marked for "BILL PAXTON" with replica kneecaps created by English; an original pair of USCM pants; and a pair of replica boots. The jacket is labelled "FROST" and applied with custom USCM, Sulaco, and American flag patches. The helmet is a replica also created by English after production and labelled "FROST." Additionally, the grenade straps on the front are replicas.
This costume exhibits sections of heavy paint wear on the armour, crumbling foam from age, and various scuffs and scratches from production wear.
Estimate: £60,000 - 100,000 Ω
