A tape archive of Colonial Marine helmet cam and Motion Tracker footage from the production of James Cameron's Aliens. The Colonial Marines used their standard-issue helmet cameras and M313 Motion Trackers as they entered Hadley's Hope and descended into the xenomorph hive in the sublevels of its power station while Lt. Gorman (William Hope) monitored their camera feeds from the video station aboard the APC.
Much like its predecessor, Aliens was a commercial and critical success, earning Sigourney Weaver an Academy Award® nomination for Best Actress, the first such nomination given for a science-fiction film. In addition, it won Oscars® for the groundbreaking sound and visual effects utilised throughout the Hadley's Hope set.
To create the POV material seen on the video station feeds, additional footage of the key cast was shot on video cameras during filming on the set. This archive of 12 three-quarter-inch format video cassette tapes consists of the production footage from Colonial Marines Hudson (Bill Paxton), Hicks (Michael Biehn), Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein), Frost (Ricco Ross), and Drake's (Mark Rolston) helmet cameras, as well as playback elements for the motion tracker, none of which has ever been previously published.
Each of the tapes comes in labelled plastic boxes, 10 in black Sony U-Matic boxes and two in grey Fuji Videocassette boxes. The total combined runtime of the tapes is approximately two hours and nine minutes. A digital file of the footage, including its original sound, will also be included with the tapes. Due to being on video tape, the footage understandably exhibits the types of visual artefacts common to the format. Dimensions: (each) 25.5 cm x 17.25 cm x 4 cm (10" x 6.75" x 1.5")
