A light-up facehugger stasis tube from James Cameron's Aliens. Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and the United States Colonial Marines found xenomorph facehuggers - not all of which were dead - suspended in containment tanks in the abandoned Hadley's Hope colony on LV-426.
While based on original designs created by Roger Dicken and H.R. Giger for Ridley Scott's Alien, the facehuggers in Aliens established the new franchise tradition of emerging from stasis chambers to wreak havoc, as later seen in Alien Resurrection and Alien: Romulus. Like its predecessor, Aliens was a commercial and critical success, earning Sigourney Weaver an Academy Award® nomination for Best Actress, the first Best Actress nomination given for a science-fiction film.
This stasis tube consists of a hollow, frosted acrylic cylinder mounted on both ends to wood and resin bases painted silver to appear metallic with metal rods on each side. The top base is equipped with two toggleable switches and a hose attachment, while the bottom conceals an electronics kit designed to illuminate the tube from below via inset lights.
Following production, the electronics kit underwent sympathetic repair to restore its functionality, a process which included replacing a damaged power cord with a new AC-compatible version. The tube exhibits discolouration, a build-up of grime, scuffing to the acrylic and paint finish, and a crack along the tube's base. Dimensions: 33 cm x 33 cm x 86.5 cm (13" x 13" x 34")
Contains electronics; see electronics notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: £8,000 - 16,000 Ω
