A miniature xenomorph egg used in the production of James Cameron’s seminal sci-fi action movie Aliens. Cast adrift for almost sixty years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) reluctantly joins a platoon of hardened Colonial Marines in the hopes of saving the residents of a colony infested with grotesque humanoid aliens.
This egg was used for the scenes in the alien hive in which Ripley and Newt (Carrie Henn) duel the Alien Queen for the very first time. Trying to navigate her way out, the opening of one of the queen’s eggs forces Ripley to lay waste to the hive with her grenade launcher and flamethrower.

This style of egg was used for the miniature shots within the sequence. The egg is made of fibreglass to ¼ scale and is finished in green and yellow washes to give it an ethereal, alien appearance. To add to the realism of the sequence, the surface of the egg has black marks applied to make it look burned from Ripley’s flamethrower.

The egg features some wear from use including some minor cracks and chips in the skin of the fibreglass. However, in spite of this wear, the egg remains in overall good condition.
