An original hand-painted animation cel from Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira (1988), widely regarded as one of the greatest animated and science fiction films ever made and a landmark in Japanese animation. It is a pivotal film in the cyberpunk genre and significantly impacts popular culture worldwide. The lot comprises three acetates sheets which, when layered together, create an image of Shotaro Kaneda on his iconic red bike with several other motorcycles in the background during a chase scene near the beginning of the movie (labelled "E33", "C21" and "C71"). Each cel is painted in gouache onto an acetate sheet and they come with an original pencil production drawing of the same scene labelled "E-33".

Condition: Very Fine

Slight transference of paint on all but the top layer cel. This isn't noticeable once the cels are lined up.
