A set of storyboards used during the production of 2010: The Year We Make Contact. With the loss of the Discovery One's crew and the failure of its mission to Jupiter, the Soviets and the United States grudgingly join together to find out why the HAL 9000 computer malfunctioned.
This set of storyboards, acquired from VFX guru Richard Edlund, details the scene in the film in which the Leonov first arrives near Europa, near the site of Discovery One's degrading orbit. The set is comprised of 11 storyboard copies, all printed in black and white on US Legal-sized paper, showing the Leonov flying through space, the close-up of the Leonov's Soviet markings and the emerging sight of Europa hanging over Jupiter. The cover page features the hand-written title "Opening Sequence" with the text "*Planet And Europa Positions Not Final" added below.

Well-used on the production with some minor creases and wear from use during pre-production and filming, the set remains in good condition.
