Lawnmower Man 2

Collection of Virtual Light Institute ID Cards

Stock #30826

A Collection of Virtual Light Institute ID Cards from the 1996 sci-fi sequel, Lawnmower Man 2. In the film, a group of altruistic computer hackers embark on a dangerous mission to stop power-hungry business mogul Jonathan Walker (Kevin Conway) from taking control of the world through a virtual reality network.

Identification cards like these are used by employees of the Virtual Light Institute in order to gain access to restricted areas of the laboratory. Dr. Platt can be seen using her ID to break into Walker’s office as she attempts to help the hackers foil his plot. Similarly, the film’s hero Dr. Benjamin Trace (Patrick Bergin) can be seen stealing Dr. Platt’s ID to get access to the lab. While Jonathan and Jennifer are never seen using an ID card in the film, they both appear in the lab during several scenes throughout the film. The top of the card is a Navy blue color and features the Virtual Light Institute logo, and a hole-punch to allow a lanyard to be strung through the card. The bottom half of the card features the name of the company, the name of the employee as well an employee identification number. The back of the card is white with a generic barcode running the width of the ID.

Each measures approximately 3.5” (9cm) x 2.5” (6.5cm), and remain in excellent production-made condition.

Lawnmower Man 2

Newspaper Headline - “Angelo Sentenced for Murder"

Stock #30827

A production made Daily Independent Press Herald with a story chronicling the murder sentence for Dr. Lawrence Angelo (Pierce Brosnan) from the 1996 sci-fi sequel, Lawnmower Man 2. In the film, a group of altruistic computer hackers embark on a dangerous mission to stop power-hungry business mogul Jonathan Walker (Kevin Conway) from taking control of the world through a virtual reality network.

The movie opens with a flashback to the final scenes of the film’s prequel in which a virtual reality laboratory is destroyed by its creator Dr. Angelo. The explosion was thought to have killed Angelo’s experimental guinea pig, Jobe Smith (Jeff Fahey), though he is resuscitated and experimented on once more in the sequel. While this newspaper story does not appear in the final cut of the film, it was likely created by the production team for possible use in these opening scenes in order to provide back-story.

There is a photograph on the right hand side of the page featuring Brosnan’s character from the original film with the headline “Angelo Sentenced for Murder”. The remainder of the page is filled with various news stories unrelated to the film. The piece shows some signs of wear and wrinkling from storage and age, but remains in great overall condition.
