James Bond Moonraker

Moonraker was the 11th movie in the world’s most successful franchise. It was directed by Bond regular Lewis Gilbert and featured Roger Moore in his 4th appearance as the British secret agent. Michael Lonsdale plays Hugo Drax, an evil genius intent on wiping out the entire human race and repopulating the Earth with a “master race”. His plan involves the release of 50 globes of toxin into the atmosphere from orbiting space shuttles.

This is one of the space suit’s worn in the final scenes of Moonraker. Drax has a huge army of security guards, henchmen and astronauts, all of whom wear the same colour scheme of cream and gold. It is a classic movie design. Coming from the incredible imagination of production designer Harry Lange. Harry also designed the legendary outfits Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece 2001 A Space Odyssey and this costume strongly echo’s that legendary creation.

The Suit is in excellent condition. With only a few scuffs and marks showing its use on set. The belt and chest cover is made from a single piece of white vinyl. The boots and gloves were painted silver for filming and the white plastic wrist guards still have their silver detailing. An original circular Drax Enterprise Corporation logo with shuttle design is applied to the top of the left sleeve. The chest pack is a replica, accurately recreated from Harry Lange’s original reference photographs.

A very rare costume, it is the only one of these we have seen to date. It stands 210 cm (85 inches) tall on a custom made mannequin and themed base.
