A painting used in the production of James Watkins’ 2012 horror-drama, The Woman in Black. The film follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) as he travels to a remote village terrorised by a vengeful ghost. Kipps finds himself in a race against time to discover the mystery of the spectre woman before she takes all the children of Crythin Gifford.
This portrait was used as set dressed when Arthur Kipps climbs the entrance hall stairs of Eel Marsh House throughout the film. The portrait shows Alice Drablow (Alisa Khazanova) wearing a black dress. The image is hand-painted on canvas and mounted to a wooden board with staples. There is a textured finish to the paint due to the brush stroke. This portrait remains in excellent production-used condition and measures 78cm x 64.5cm x 1.5cm (30.75” x 25.5” x 0.5”).
