A cross used in the production of James Watkins’ 2012 horror-drama, The Woman In Black. The film follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) as he travels to a remote village terrorised by a vengeful ghost. Kipps finds himself in a race against time to discover the mystery of the spectre woman before she takes all the children of Crythin Gifford.
This cross was used to landmark the site of the Drablow family accident in the marshes. This prop can be screen-matched to the one seen onscreen at various points in the film. Additional distressing has also been applied for use in The Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death. The cross is made from wood and has layered MDF details that are painted to look like aged metal. The base of the cross is caked in mud from where it stands in the marsh on location. The cross suffered slight wear from use and time spent in storage and the centre detail is missing. However this prop remains in very good production-used condition and measures 102cm x 10cm x 204cm (40.25” x 4” x 80.5”).
