A set of two stunt knives used in the production of James Watkins’ 2012 horror-drama, The Woman in Black. The film follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) as he travels to a remote village terrorised by a vengeful ghost. Kipps finds himself in a race against time to discover the mystery of the spectre woman before she takes all the children of Crythin Gifford.
These stunt knives and others like them would have been used during the troubling table-scratching scene as Elizabeth Daily (Janet McNeer) is overcome by the spirit of her dead son Nicholas (Sidney Johnston) and carves an eerie image of the Woman in Black (Liz White) on their dining table top. There are two knives in total, with the first made with a blunt metal blade and a carved handle made from painted resin. A metal protrusion has been added to the end of the knife blade by production to allow the table to be scratched more effectively. The second knife is made from silver-painted plastic with the knife blade wrapped in silver foil which would have been used as a safer alternative for scenes when the knife is quickly pulled away from Elizabeth by her husband Sam (Ciarán Hinds). Both knives remain in very good production-used condition, with the largest knife measuring approximately 24.5cm x 2.5cm (9.75” x 1”).

These props are original assets used in the production of the 2012 film The Woman In Black. The asset is made available through a partnership between Prop Store and Exclusive Media. This is not a replica, but rather an original piece from the making of the film.
