A hero diary gift used in the production of James Watkins’ 2012 horror-drama, The Woman In Black. The film follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) as he travels to a remote village terrorised by a vengeful ghost. Kipps finds himself in a race against time to discover the mystery of the spectre woman before she takes all the children of Crythin Gifford.
This diary gift was given to Arthur Kipps by his son Joseph (Misha Handley) at the beginning of the film. It was used to mark the days between Arthur leaving for Crythin Gifford and when Joseph would see him again. This prop can be screen-matched to the one seen onscreen at the start of the film. The diary is made up of four paper pages tied together with green velvet ribbon. Each page has a crayon-drawn image beginning with Tuesday and ending on Friday. This piece remains in excellent production-used condition and measures approximately 21cm x 15cm x 1cm (8.5” x 6” x 0.5”).
