A brown leather suitcase used in the production of James Watkins’ 2012 horror-drama, The Woman in Black. The film follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) as he travels to a remote village terrorised by a vengeful ghost. Kipps finds himself in a race against time to discover the mystery of the spectre woman before she takes all the children of Crythin Gifford.
This suitcase would have been carried by Arthur Kipps through the film whenever he travels. The exterior is made up of brown leather, a leather handle and brass locks. The interior is lined with black leather and contains a paper pad ink blotter and six toiletry bottles. The toiletries are made up of glass and metal, varying in size, shape and style. The suitcase opening and closing mechanisms are all functional, securing the contents inside. Worn and distressed for use in production, it remains in good production-used condition and measures approximately 45cm x 37cm x 17cm (17.75” x 14.75” x 6.75”).
