A Terran Confederation spacesuit from Chris Roberts' Wing Commander. First Lieutenant Christopher "Maverick" Blair's (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Lieutenant Commander Jeannette "Angel" Deveraux (Saffron Burrows), and their fellow Terran Confederates wore matching standard-issue spacesuits on their mission to deliver orders to the TCS Tiger Claw that might save the ship from incoming Kilrathi attackers.
Costume designer Magali Guidasci's futuristic designs for the Terran spacesuits were based on those first seen in the Wing Commander video game, also created and designed by director Chris Roberts. Guidasci, a specialist in space costuming, created award-winning spacesuits for films such as Michael Bay's Armageddon and Paul W. S. Anderson's AVP: Alien vs. Predator.
This virtually all-maroon spacesuit consists of a foam-padded vacuum-formed plastic helmet affixed with a transparent visor and rubber tubing; a foam-padded leatherette and Spandex bodysuit hand-marked "J" on the interior with rubber detailing on the shoulders, sleeves, and chest; urethane chest armor labeled "MB" on the interior; a foam-padded neck-liner hand-marked "Saffron" and numbered "2"; a pair of jointed foam vambraces with metal hinges and fastening strip closures, including one hand-marked "R" and one marked "Sprung," "L," and "R2"; a matching jointed foam greave hand-marked "Left" and "MB"; a fiberglass stunt backpack with leatherette-wrapped shoulder straps labeled "Confed. Marines MMDCIV" on front and "Sprung" and "Pat" on the reverse for stuntperson Patrick Rappard; and a pair of matching spacesuit boots (EUR Men's size 43), including one hand-marked "Freddie" and one hand-marked "Wlodylo" on the interior.
The costume exhibits multiple rips in the bodysuit, tearing throughout the foam elements, staining on the interiors of several pieces, fractures in the pack's fiberglass, and peeling labels from production wear.
