This group of thirty-five vintage original 8" x 10" single-weight glossy untrimmed advance photographs are from director Mel Stuart's musical fantasy starring Gene Wilder. Consisting entirely of wonderful scene stills which depict Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson, Peter Ostrum, and others, these photographs were issued in advance of the film's theatrical release to generate excitement. Though they are considered 8" x 10" photographs, they were cut to different sizes, with some being slightly wider and others slightly shorter in height. In excellent condition, each photograph has a printed caption on the back, and most of them exhibit small creases on one of the corners from handling. This is a wonderful archive of original advance photographs from this beloved classic.

"Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" is a musical fantasy directed by Mel Stuart with a screenplay by Roald Dahl, based on his 1964 novel, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, the film follows Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum), a poor boy who discovers a Golden Ticket inside a chocolate bar, granting him the opportunity to tour Wonka's magical factory alongside four other children from around the world. The film was nominated for Best Original Score at the 44th Academy Awards, while Gene Wilder received a nomination for Best Performance in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical at the 29th Golden Globe Awards. It also introduced the song, "The Candy Man," later recorded by Sammy Davis Jr., becoming a widely-recognized hit. Over time, "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" has gained immense popularity through frequent television broadcasts and strong home video sales.
