Winner of ten Academy Awards®, this high energy musical took America by storm in 1961 and immediately became a critical and commercial success. The love story of Maria (Natalie Wood) and Tony (Richard Beymer) was adapted from William Shakespeare's romantic tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet', only swapping the rolling hills and marble balconies of fair Verona to the filthy streets and fire escapes of New York City. This Oscar® style US One-Sheet designed by Saul Bass and Joseph Caroff is from the 1963 release and features an almost identical design as a first release 1961 poster save for the addition of a small printed white 2" square box announcing the Academy Awards® successes.

Condition: Good to Very Good

Unrestored, folded (as issued) some minor handling and age wear with splits (1/4") to two crossfolds. Scattered pinholes to border areas with repaired small clean tears (1/4 - 1/2"). NSS stamp to reverse has very faint bleed-through to bottom credits area when held up to the light.Main image areas remain largely unaffected and present well with strong colours.
