The classic artwork for this iconic movie poster is often incorrectly attributed to Saul Bass; however, it was actually created by Joseph Caroff. This poster is a rare first-release one sheet from before the film won the Best Picture Academy Award. After the win, additional one sheets were printed that included information about the Academy Award and featured a 1962 copyright date.

This is a very clean example of the film's iconic one sheet. The center and lower horizontal folds are supported by tape on the verso. The poster features strong colors and displays well.

Capturing ten Academy Awards, this vibrant musical captivated America and quickly rose to classic status. The romance between Maria and Tony, portrayed by Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, unfolds on the gritty streets of New York, providing a dramatic backdrop for the skirmishes of the opposing gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. With Leonard Bernstein's music, Robert Wise's direction, and a remarkable performance by Rita Moreno, the film remains an indelible masterpiece.
