A Freddy Krueger stunt mask from Wes Craven's Wes Craven's New Nightmare autographed by the film's stunt coordinator and stuntman, Tony Cecere. During the making of a new film in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, an entity in the form of its fictional main villain, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), emerged into the real world and began killing off the actors and filmmakers involved with making him famous.

Upon its release, A Nightmare on Elm Street was considered an instant success that revitalized Craven's career and received praise for not just its polished, witty script, but its clean camera work and special effects as well. Freddy Krueger's reception also garnered positive feedback as the most terrifying slasher since John Carpenter's Halloween (1978), and was considered exemplary of an otherwise stale genre trope. A Nightmare on Elm Street remains to be considered one of the top horror classics across numerous lists, with Krueger today among the most recognizable characters in popular culture thanks to his distinctive fedora-clad burnt head.

For New Nightmare, Craven had Krueger's classic disfigured face redesigned by Academy Award®-winning effects house KNB EFX to return him to the filmmaker's original conception of a truly horrific murder, rather than the quasi-comic force he had become over multiple sequel installments. New Nightmare ultimately became the most acclaimed film in the franchise since the original Nightmare, earning Craven the Best Screenplay award at the prestigious Fantasporto festival as well as an Independent Spirit Award® nomination for Best Feature.

This mask originates from the collection of Cecere, who wore it when he doubled for Englund and carefully stored it after shooting completing. Cecere has kept this in his possession since production wrapped, and it is now coming to auction for the very first time.

Made of foam latex, this detailed overhead mask features Cecere's autograph on the neck in black ink. It comes mounted to a foam head for stability.
