Garth Algar's (Dana Carvey) glasses from Stephen Surjik's Wayne's World 2. Garth wore his new pair of glasses while he and his best friend, Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers), attempted to put on the earth-shaking "Waynestock" rock concert.
Wayne's dorky but trusted public access show co-host Garth and his signature black glasses were first introduced in a popular series of Saturday Night Live sketches launched in February 1989. Following the massive success of Penelope Spheeris' feature film adaptation, Garth appeared throughout the sequel with slightly updated glasses, including in the classic scene in which Honey Hornee's (Kim Basinger) attempted seduction fogged up the lenses. Garth's distinctive look - including his blonde shag, eyeglasses, and torn jeans - became one of the most recognizable and imitated in 1990s pop culture.
This lot originated from a crew member. It consists of a pair of black plastic American Optical nonprescription glasses with clear acrylic lenses and an original leather The Savile Row Collection glasses case from production labeled "Garth Glasses/Flat Base."
