26 printed defense system readout designs with a visual effects camera from the production of John Badham's WarGames. In the climactic finale, large computer screens at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex displayed maps as the US government's high-tech defense system determined that the only way to win against hacker David Lightman (Matthew Broderick) - and therefore to avert its own destruction in a nuclear world war - was not to continue playing.
This lot consists of a vinyl three-ring binder containing 26 pages of production-printed designs displaying various readouts for the computer screens, as well as a 35mm still picture camera used to check camera alignment for visual effects inserts in the effects-heavy film. The readouts were designed to indicate what the diagrams display, scene numbers, and annotations from production. The camera comes fixed onto a custom bracket and interface along with an affixed vintage computer chip, a key labelled "focus," and a set of movable knobs. The lot exhibits creasing on the pages, wear on the binder, scuffing, and a build-up of grime on the camera. Dimensions: (largest) 14" x 12" x 1" (35.75 cm x 30.5 cm x 2.5 cm)
Contains electronic and mechanical components; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $300 - 600
