Ray Ferrier's (Tom Cruise) leather jacket costume from Steven Spielberg's sci-fi horror War of the Worlds. Ray wore this style of jacket throughout the film, and different jackets were used to demonstrate their gradual distressing as the action intensified. This jacket, made specifically for the scene where Ray was captured and held inside the alien pod, features a rip that runs down the back left shoulder seam and sleeves that are two inches wider than the others made for production. The sleeves were widened to accommodate added padding and the excessive pulling by multiple characters to save Ray from the Alien tripod's clutches.

The brown leather jacket is made by John David Ridge and features three exterior pockets, white and red striped on the arms and a label on the left interior pocket that reads "Mr. Tom Cruise, Big Sleeve". Also included are a blue T-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans, (size 32), that have both been intentionally distressed to appear dirty and discoloured. "Ray 132-159" is handwritten in black pen inside both the T-shirt's neckline and the waistband of the jeans, indicating they were worn in the films final act. This costume is accompanied by a production label that notes the scenes in which it was used.
