A pair of hand-signed letters written by the legendary actor Burt Lancaster to special effects artist Stuart Freeborn.
Typed on Lancaster's personal headed paper, these letters were written personally to Freeborn after working with him in 1952 and in 1955 after issues in the development of Trapeze (1956). The 1952 letter is signed ‘Burt Lancaster’, with a personal note written by hand at the bottom, while the 1955 letter is signed simply ‘Burt’. The original envelopes for the letters are also included.
A fantastic glimpse at the close relationship between the Academy Award®-winner Lancaster and BAFTA®-nominated Freeborn from early in their careers, the letters come displayed in a silver frame with a white and silver matte board. They have only minimal wear from age and use, and remain in an excellent condition.
Materials: Paper, Wood, Ferrous Metals.
These letters come directly from the estate of Stuart Freeborn, the legendary make-up and creature effects artist who created many of the famous characters from the original Star Wars trilogy including Yoda, Chewbacca and Greedo.
