Legendary makeup artist Mark Bussan's personal makeup kit. Over the course of his four-decade career, Bussan created makeup and hair effects - both special and otherwise - for some of the world's most popular films and TV series, including Maude, Charlie's Angels, Deadwood, and multiple Star Trek franchise installments, including Deep Space Nine and First Contact. He received seven Emmy® nominations and two wins for his work, and is today regarded among the most influential artists of all time in his field.

This extraordinarily rare lot - Bussan's personal working makeup kit for the majority of (if not all) his projects across more than 30 years of film and television - originates from a fellow crew member. It consists of a hard metal and plastic carrying case with a metal latch closure affixed with a placard engraved "Robin Bussan Make-Up" for Bussan's daughter. The case contains three levels filled with Bussan's collection of original makeup and cosmetic products, ranging from tools such as eyeliner pencils, nail clippers, bristle brushes, and sponges to lip moisturizers, eye shadow, mascara, and various hair crayons.

The top level contains a handwritten list of paint colors corresponding to numbered containers inside the kit. Other materials are also hand-labeled for their designated uses, with markings such as "DIRT," "NEUTRALIZE," and "SUNBURN STIPPLE." The kit shows evidence of wear throughout, including some of the contents partially used or, in the cases of its bottles and tubes, nearly emptied.
