Becky Sharp's (Reese Witherspoon) dress from Mira Nair's adaptation of William Thackeray's Vanity Fair.
Becky Sharp wore her purple dress when she sang at a party. Custom-made for Reese Witherspoon, the dress is made from purple velvet and a purple striped fabric panel at the front. The sleeves feature a pink tassel trim attached at the cuffs and a purple ruffled decoration with metallic bronze coloured tassels is sewn to the left side of the dress. Hook and eye fastenings are displayed on the back and the dress is longer at the back, creating a train. A label reading 'Sands Films' is sewn on the inside of the front neckline. Sands Films were the costumiers who worked on the production.

The dress displays loose threads and damage to the ruffle decoration. However, the garment remains in overall very good production-used condition.
