A handwritten letter written by Valerie (Natasha Wightman) from James McTeigue’s 2005 dystopian graphic novel adaptation V for Vendetta.

In a dystopian future where Britain has come under the thumb of an oppressive government, underground revolutionary V (Hugo Weaving) rescues young media worker Evey (Natalie Portman) before teaching her why the state must be brought down.

This open letter is written on very fine paper (said to be toilet paper in the film) by imprisoned and most likely executed actress, Valerie (Wrightman). The letter is written in pencil and found by Evey (Natalie Portman) after she is captured, arrested, and imprisoned. She finds it hidden in a rat hole in her cell, and reads it daily to bring her comfort. Folded up like a scroll, Valerie writes the story of her life, and why she was captured.

Although what is written on the letter isn’t exactly what is said in the transcript, word for word, it is very similar and even contains a few extra details. It remains in very good production-used condition, in spite of its age, storage and fragility.
