This item is a set of puppet hands created by legendary animator George Pal. The creator of popular 1940's TV series as well as a successful producer of groundbreaking science fiction films, Pal was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1944 for "the development of novel methods and techniques in the production of short subjects known as Puppetoons", for which his TV series was named. The tiny wooden hands, which include an outstretched thumb, are attached to a length of wire coated with black rubber. One hand in the pair is in excellent condition, however, due to age, production use, and storage, the second hand in the pair has become dried out. The hands each measure approximately 4" (10cm) in length.
