Jeff Portnoy's (Jack Black) Hero Helmet with Glasses and Dog Tags worn in Ben Stiller's 2007 action comedy, Tropic Thunder. In the film, a rag-tag group of actors are dropped into the jungles of the Golden Triangle to shoot a movie guerrilla style. Unfortunately for them, the locals are a heroin-manufacturing gang known as 'Flaming Dragon' and they aren't shooting blanks.
This helmet can be seen throughout the film as Portnoy and his fellow actors stumble through the jungles of Vietnam. The helmet, which also contains a plastic liner, features a camouflage cover with multiple phrases written on it such as: “Keep on Truckin’,” and “Dead Meat,” among others. The green band around the helmet has numerous objects tucked inside including a half eaten chocolate bar, a condom, a small plastic squeeze bottle, a pair of dog tags, a St. Christopher medal, and his hero red glasses. The helmet is sized to fit most head shapes and features an adjustable brown chin strap for a snug fit. This piece features minor wear from being production distressed, however it remains in overall excellent condition. *Please note that the pictured headstand is not included.
