Production designer Dean Mitzner's bound, personal hand-annotated binder with hand-drawn sketches and a script from the production of Steven Lisberger's Tron. A groundbreaking movie, Tron was the first feature to include entirely computer-animated scenes. However, most of its iconic visual effects were created using matte photography techniques and backlit animation. The actors were shot in black-and-white on a black background, then printed on large, high-contrast film and hand-coloured using rotoscoping. This process proved so complicated and costly that it was never again used for a feature film.

Originating from the estate of Mitzner, this lot features a black leatherette three-ring binder with "Dean Mitzner" embossed in gold-colour lettering. The binder features a 125-page fourth draft script dated April 6, 1981 and 252 pages of calendars, call sheets, crew lists, correspondences, 10 hand-drawn sketches, and a Land's End Summer 1981 catalogue. The call sheets feature the printed images of Mickey Mouse dressed in a Tron suit and one of the sheets having Mickey fishing under a tree with the suit tossed over the branches with the sign "Gone Fishin" [sic] beside him. Many of the pages, including within the script, feature handwritten annotations. This lot exhibits tears on the pages' hole punch edges and discolouring throughout.
