A Fighter Squadron 1 (VF-1 "Firebird") baseball cap from Tony Scott's Top Gun. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) and Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards) served with the VF-1 aboard the USS Enterprise. At the end of the film, a baseball cap sat on top of the lockers as Maverick, also sporting the patch on his flight suit, was offered his choice of assignment by his commanding officer. Production made use of real F-14 aircraft and squadrons for the aerial sequences, including the VF-1, but fictionalized the squadron's nickname and insignia to feature the VAW-110 Firebird in place of the Wolfpack.
This hat originates from Planet Hollywood. It consists of a baseball cap featuring an embroidered VF-1 patch with the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 110 (VAW-110) insignia, known as "Firebird," instead of the Wolfpack insignia. Cap exhibits pulled threads along the edge of the patch.
