A Top Gun parachute harness from Tony Scott's Top Gun. Pilots at the US Navy's Fighter Weapons School, also known as Top Gun, wore parachute harnesses as part of their safety equipment while flying F-14 Tomcats throughout the film. Parachute harnesses also appeared when Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) - whose partner Lt. (j.g.) Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards) would soon die during a botched ejection - walked past the jets with his fellow pilots before training.

This canvas and nylon harness is hand-marked "Nov 77" in black ink on the interior and exterior hem - with additional hand-marks that have since become illegible due to ink bleed - originated from Paramount Pictures. The markings and dating are likely from military usage prior to production. It exhibits tears to the fabric, frayed edges, and some discoloration from production use and age.
