A high-quality replica of a model miniature of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell's (Tom Cruise) F-14 fighter jet from the production of Tony Scott's Top Gun. In the film, Maverick flew his Grunman F-14 Tomcat numbered "114" while training at the Naval Air Station Miramar, aka Top Gun.
This ornately detailed replica was constructed from an original mold of the model miniature designed for the film's special photographic effects work by supervisor Gary Gutierrez. The jet is made from fiberglass with a urethane cockpit canopy window, Maverick’s plane number "114" stenciled on the body, VF-1 eagle stickers applied to the tailfin, and "Lt. Pete Mitchell "Maverick"" and "Lt. Arthur Dent “Hazumi"" stenciled on underside. Inside the cockpit are two hand-painted miniature models of Maverick and Hazumi, both with labeled helmets, stationed in urethane seats with attachment mounts on the bottom. The model exhibits fading to its two-tone gray exterior and discoloration to the cockpit canopy, as well as minor chips throughout the fiberglass.
