”Iceberg ahead!”
A cabin door plaque from the production of James Cameron’s 1997 historical disaster movie Titanic, which was once the highest-grossing film of all time.

The ‘unsinkable’ Titanic sets off for its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York and two people from distinctly different backgrounds (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) meet onboard. They start to fall in love, but disaster is inevitable.

This cabin door plaque and others like them were made for the production and were placed on the doors around the ship. They can be seen either at top of the doors or more in centre, depending on the deck. The plaque is made of medium density fibreboard and painted white with a gold ring. The deck and room number are printed in black in the centre and there are two holes where it was screwed to the door.

The plaque has some wear from storage and production use, including some scuffing and scratches, as well as a small build-up of grime. Considering the age of the piece it remains in an excellent condition.
