A motorized motion control Worrall geared tripod head from Tippett Studio. After completing his work on Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Phil Tippett created Tippett Studio with his partner Jules Roman. The studio specializes in stop-motion and CG animation. Geared heads are regularly used in film production to pan and tilt cameras.

Made of metal, this geared head consists of a semicircle wedge with gear-toothed bottom edges that lock into a motorized gear for movement. The motors on the geared head allowed it to be precisely moved for motion control work. Two other round edges are locked into place with metal wheels. Turning the gears slowly tilts the head above. ‘Tippett’ is hand written in black ink on the top side. The head is mounted on a wood base. An additional gear and gear mechanism is also included with the lot.

The item shows general wear from use throughout, leaving the item in fair condition. Dimensions: 19” x 12” x 11” (48.25 cm x 30.5 cm x 28 cm)
