A Crablogger model miniature from Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's sci-fi adventure series Thunderbirds, which was converted into an ambulance for their subsequent series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.
A Crablogger forest-clearance vehicle was seen throughout "Path of Destruction", the second episode of Thunderbirds' second season.
Designed and created by supervising special effects director Derek Meddings and his team, this miniature is predominantly constructed from jelutong wood. It has metal features such as wheel alloys and window frames, while the windows are Perspex. Lights are found at the front and rear, and rubber wheels are connected to the miniature's metal suspension system, which is cushioned by foam and was therefore able to bounce slightly, enhancing the realism of the vehicle's movement on screen. A hole in the base of the miniature was previously fitted with a Jetex motor to simulate the movement of dust around the vehicle as it travelled.
The miniature was converted into an ambulance for "Winged Assassin", the second episode of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. The ambulance transported Captain Scarlet from a crash site to a hospital before being used again in the 21st episode, "Treble Cross". The ambulance was created by simply cladding the Crablogger with wooden panels. The original Crablogger remains intact beneath these panels. The miniature's electrical components are untested. One bulb is missing, and it also exhibits chips and markings from production-use and age. Dimensions: 65 cm x 20 cm x 23.5 cm (25.5" x 7.75" x 9.25")
Contains electronics; see electronics notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: £20,000 - 40,000 M
