Thor wore his helmet at the beginning of the film as he entered the ceremony in which Odin (Anthony Hopkins) was to declare Thor his successor to the throne of Asgard.

Thor featured the first appearances of Hemsworth, Hopkins as his imperious father, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, roles that would later evolve into multiple standalone blockbuster films and series. Custom-made for the film by Ironhead Studios, this resin hero helmet originated from Lee's personal private collection. In 2013, this exact helmet was exhibited at a promotional event for Thor: The Dark World at the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

This helmet is autographed by Thor's original co-creator and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee on the left face guard and by Hemsworth himself on the right face guard along with the inscription "The original helmet from Thor 1!!!" It features hollow cast wings designed to serve as face guards and removable via integrated magnets, a technique also employed on Loki's distinctive helmet. Thor's helmet is painted silver-color and the interior features mesh, padding, and an original maker's label. It exhibits minor tarnishing and scuffing from production use and handling.
