A storyboard binder with novelette from John Carpenter's The Thing. Inspired by John W. Campbell Jr.'s novella "Who Goes There?", published in 1938 under the pen name Don A. Stuart, The Thing tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter an alien "Thing." Mirroring the cultural unease of the Cold War, The Thing released to mixed reviews but developed a cult following where it was later regarded as one of the best science fiction and horror films ever made.

The lot consists of one black binder with 530 pages of black-and-white storyboard copies detailing scene breakdowns such as the Dog-Thing reveal, the Norris Spider Head-Thing, and others. Camera directions are also included on some of the pages with the breakdowns, giving direction for the shots such as "hand held-walk around," "Camera rises out of the pit to follow the men," and one mention of "Possible Blue Screen with Model" for scene 12. Also included is a copy of Campbell Jr.'s 31-page paperback novelette "Who Goes There?". This lot exhibits mild creasing. Dimensions: 11.5" x 11" x 3.5" (29.25 cm x 28 cm x 9 cm)
