A storyboard of a battle with the Thing hand-drawn by renowned production illustrator Michael G. Ploog for the production of John Carpenter's The Thing. Pilot RJ MacReady (Kurt Russell) fended off the shape-shifting alien that invaded his team's Antarctica research facility with his ax.

Best known for acclaimed collaborations with Ralph Bakshi, The Jim Henson Company, and Steven Spielberg, Ploog created storyboards to help creature designer Rob Bottin and his team devise extensive special makeup effects required by The Thing and its various incarnations. This storyboard depicting an ax-wielding scientist watching as The Thing battles two of his colleagues is rendered and signed by Ploog in graphite on paper. Ink borders exhibit pink discoloration from age. Dimensions: 11.5" x 9" (29.25 cm x 23 cm)
