Four binders containing hand-marked printed storyboards with line producer Erik Jensen's personal archive of paperwork used to help guide and schedule the extensive special effects makeup teams' work during production of John Carpenter's The Thing. The storyboards were copied during production for distribution among the crew from original artwork by acclaimed production illustrator and storyboard artist Michael G. Ploog - who, working with Rob Bottin, helped envision several key sequences - as well as Mentor Huebner, who stepped in after Ploog left the production.

This lot consists of one black vinyl binder hand-labeled "The Thing Gag Details" and containing 104 pages of printed storyboards with special effects notes hand-marked for dates ranging from "Set 4,11" to "Aug 27;" a black vinyl binder containing 80 pages of production paperwork regarding shooting schedules with hand-marked circles, as well as an additional 51 pages of printed storyboards with SFX breakdowns; a spiral-bound binder hand-labeled "Palmer Norris Kennel Tag" containing 56 pages of printed storyboards; and a spiral-bound binder hand-labeled "Tag Sequence" and hand-marked "dropped" and "drop" in ink containing 25 pages of printed storyboards. Several storyboards depict the titular Thing in its earliest incarnations, including as the Dog-Thing.
