An oversized print of the press photograph depicting police officers with Andy Dufresne’s (Tim Robbins) rock hammer, from Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption. In the montage revealing the aftermath of Andy’s escape from Shawshank State Prison, a photograph was taken of police officers searching the nearby river, with one officer raising the rock hammer that had been used in Andy's years-long escape plan.
This oversized black-and-white print of the image was produced for close-up shots, allowing the camera to gradually focus on the rock hammer as Red (Morgan Freeman) narrated.
Initially a modest box-office performer, The Shawshank Redemption has since become one of the most celebrated and beloved films in cinema history, earning seven Academy Award® nominations, including Best Picture, and frequently topping lists of the greatest films ever made. It has held the number one position on IMDb’s Top 250 films ranking for decades.
