Andy Dufresne's (Tim Robbins) letter to Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman) from Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption. In the climactic final sequence of the film, Red found a box of money Andy - his fellow inmate at Shawshank State Penitentiary - left hidden for him, along with a letter inviting Red to join him in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

Nominated for seven Academy Awards® in its time, The Shawshank Redemption has since gone on to be one of the most popular and acclaimed films in modern history. Known for holding its regular No. 1 spot on IMDB for years, the film was selected in 2015 by the US Library of Congress for permanent preservation in the National Film Registry.

Created by contractor Michael Marcus, this letter beginning "Dear Red, if you're reading this, you've gotten out.." and signed "Your friend Andy" is handwritten in red ink on marbled paper. Also included is an open envelope from matching paper stock hand-addressed to "Red." The letter exhibits residue on its reverse from strips of tape used to help it maintain its shape inside the envelope, as well as fold lines and minor grime from production use. Dimensions: 8.5" x 11" (21.75 cm x 28 cm)
