This is a prop fire extinguisher backpack from the 2006 holiday comedy, The Santa Clause 3, starring Tim Allen. These packs were used by the N.P.F.D. (North Pole Fire Department), as well as Mrs. Claus' (Elizabeth Mitchell) father, Bud (Alan Arkin) throughout the film as Jack Frost (Martin Short) starts multiple fires during his attempt to take over the North Pole!
The backpack features a red-colored, hard-shell body with zip closure; soft, comfortable shoulder straps and a soft, padded back to keep the hard shell from hurting the actor's back. The exterior of the hard shell features a 'NPFD' snowflake insignia, as well as a plastic hose with gun-like attachment protruding out the top half.
Stored inside the pack is an array of wires, batteries and varies mechanisms attached to a small authentic gas cylinder (see photos.) All of these pieces were used during filming to spray out the fire extinguishing foam (electronics have not been tested.) This item displays wear from production use and storage, but overall remains in good condition. The pack itself measures approximately 13" x 7" x 19" (33cm x 18cm x 48cm) and the hose and gun extend 40" (102cm.)
