The Rocketeer's (Bill Campbell) helmet and Cirrus X3 rocket-pack from Joe Johnston's action adventure The Rocketeer. Pilot Cliff Secord took flight as the heroic Rocketeer after discovering an experimental jetpack designed by Howard Hughes (Terry O'Quinn). Electronic rocket-packs were created by the Design Setters model shop for the film's extensive stunt work. This lot consists of a crested, foam-padded resin helmet with leather and nylon straps and tinted urethane eye lenses spray-painted gold and brass with a lacquered metallic finish, as well as an AC-powered rocket-pack built from a combination of fiberglass, metal, and resin, painted silver and black, and mounted to a black metal display stand. Also included is a pair of brown leather gloves and a Disney Certificate of Authenticity for the rocket-pack. The lot exhibits various signs of significant production use, including charring to the bottoms of the pack's rockets from operation, grime and nicks around the helmet's mouth, and flaking paint throughout both pieces.
