A Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) early filming head from Henry Selick's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack appeared throughout the film as the leading character who brought Christmas time to Halloween Town.

The film's animation team produced hundreds of hand-sculpted replacement heads for Jack to capture his facial expressions and mouth movements. These replacement heads, at the start of filming, were fashioned in clay.

This particular example is a rare early production head made from clay and shows Jack with a slight smile. His head is painted white, with dark grey used for his eye sockets and a purple grey colouring inside his mouth. At the base of the head is a square-shaped mounting point. The lot exhibits paint wear and some minor cracking and scuffing due to its age. Dimensions: 4.5 cm x 4 cm x 4 cm (1.75" x 1.5" x 1.5")
